Statement of Work (SOW) Project: SDMATIC Analyzer
GENERAL INFORMATION
1.0 Scope of Work: Purpose is to procure a new SDMATIC Analyzer. It measures the wheat flour damaged starch content, which is one of the most important quality indicators and has significant influences on processing and product quality of soft wheat flour.
2.0 Background: The SDMATIC Analyzer measures the damaged starch content of flour, one of the most important soft flour quality characteristics, and is an essential equipment for the routine evaluation of soft wheat quality and annual evaluation of Wheat Quality Councils entries and conducting research on milling and baking quality of soft wheat. It is the only damaged starch content analyzer available in the U.S.A. The SDmatic is based on the recognized amperometric method that measures iodine absorption in a diluted flour suspension. It is the fastest method, widely used in the industry as a standard test to obtain a reliable result in less than 10 minutes and with only 1 gram of flour. It is fully automated and enzyme free. The equipment we have is over 20 years old and requires frequent repair, wasting the technician time and delaying the project progress. Acquirement of a new SDMATIC Analyzer for the replacement of the current one is expected to increase efficiency and consistency of the wheat flour quality evaluation and significantly save our technician’s time and resources, which have been frequently needed for the repair.
