About this file
This is a Statement of Work for the procurement of thermal desorption tube conditioning equipment to support analytical laboratory operations. The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base seeks two (2) Markes International TC-30 Thermal Desorption Tube Conditioner units with charcoal filters, O-rings, and 12-month warranty per unit. The equipment is used in Thermal Desorption Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (TD-GC-MS) analysis to assess workplace chemical exposures to Volatile Organic Compounds and validate exposure control effectiveness. The TC-30 must simultaneously condition up to 30 thermal desorption sampling tubes per cycle with integrated dry-purging capability to remove moisture, built-in charcoal filtration to prevent laboratory air contamination, fully adjustable temperature controls with user-programmable settings, and standard electrical requirements (100-240 V, 50-60 Hz, 600 W). The unit must include gas-saving and start-delay functions to enable overnight operations.
The related federal contract opportunity (IASS-AFRL-RMZB-2026-0039) is a Special Notice indicating the Air Force's intent to award a single source purchase order to Markes International under FAR 12.201-2 authority. Responses addressing the single source justification must be submitted to the contracting officer, Chris Stokes, at chris.stokes.1@us.af.mil no later than 30 July 2026 at 2:00 PM Eastern Time. All correspondence must include the subject line "Thermal Desorption Conditioner" and submissions are limited to PDF, .doc, .docx, .xls, or .xlsx file formats. The NAICS code is 334516, and the government reserves discretion to conduct competitive procurement based on responses received.

Statement of work
Title: Markes International TC-30 Thermal Desorption Tube Conditioner Document Date: 08 May 2026 Scope: The vendor shall provide two (2) TC-30 units, charcoal filters to collect tube effluent, required O-rings, and 12-month warranty per unit.
Background: This unit is used to support critical analytical Thermal Desorption Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (TD-GC-MS) technology. The TC-30 functions to clean, heat, and dry-purge moisture from reusable sampling tubes prior to deployment. Data generated from the analysis of TD tubes is used to assess workplace chemical exposures and validate the effectiveness of exposure controls to Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs).
Requirement/Salient Characteristics: The thermal desorption tube conditioner unit shall possess the following salient characteristics:
· Shall be capable of simultaneously cleaning and conditioning up to 30 TD tubes in a single operational cycle
· Shall feature an integrated dry-purging capability to actively remove moisture from the sampling tubes prior to and during the conditioning process
· Shall possess built-in charcoal filtration system designed to recapture purged VOCs from tubes and prevent contamination of laboratory ambient air
· Shall have fully adjustable temperature controls and user-programmable settings to accommodate various sorbent materials and/or methodologies
· Shall operate on standard facility requirements, e.g. 100-240 V, 50-60 Hz, 600 W
· Shall possess gas-saving and start-delay functions to enable overnight operation as necessary
