STATEMENT OF WORK

(SOW)

HLF-1 (series) Transducer Exterior Restoration

1.0 Background

HLF-1 transducers are used as the primary acoustic source for Low Frequency (LF) signal generation on SSN─688, SSBN─726, and SSN─774 class submarines. The Acoustic Augmentation Support Program (AASP) system utilizes the HLF-1 transducers to cover the LF frequencies when installed on a submarine. The AASP system is installed to provide a mechanism to meet a variety of fleet needs to include submarine crew tactics training, support for research and developmental tests to verify new SONAR technologies, and submarine acoustic security.

Hydroacoustics Inc. (HAI) is the manufacturer of the HLF-1 series transducer and has the knowledge of how to disassemble, sand blast, paint, and reassemble the transducer without damaging the acoustic characteristics. HAI will complete an exterior restoration of HLF-1E Serial Numbers: 22, 23, 29 and HLF-1D Serial Numbers: 16, 1.
