About this file
This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the inspection, diagnosis, and repair of three MEGA Door brand vertical lift hangar doors located at the 187th FW in Alabama (two doors on building 1203 and one on building 1201). The primary objective is to address metal shavings generated during door operation, which indicate potential mechanical failure and pose safety risks, and restore the doors to full, safe, and correct operational status. The contractor must conduct comprehensive visual and operational inspections of all moving parts including lift straps, cables, drums, sheaves, rollers, guides, tracks, motors, and gearboxes; provide detailed findings reports with recommended corrective actions; perform all necessary repairs such as removal of foreign objects, replacement of worn components, realignment, and lubrication per manufacturer specifications; and conduct operational tests to confirm proper function without metal shaving generation.
The contractor shall provide all labor, tools, equipment, supplies, and expertise, including Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) or equivalent replacement parts such as bearings, rollers, wheels, lift straps, cables, fasteners, seals, weatherstripping, and structural components, as well as industrial-grade lubricants, cleaning supplies, and finishing materials for corrosion prevention. Additionally, the contractor must perform full preventative maintenance per ASSA ABLOY (MEGA Door manufacturer) recommendations and comply with all installation access and security policies, including background check requirements, CAC verification where applicable, NCIC-III and TSDB screening, and Force Protection Condition (FPCON) adjustments as directed by DoD and local authorities.

The objective is to restore the doors to full, safe, and correct operational status, eliminating the production of metal shavings.
2. Background The hangar doors in question are reported to be producing metal shavings. This is an abnormal condition and suggests that metal components are grinding against each other.
3. Scope of Services The contractor shall provide all necessary labor, tools, equipment, and expertise to perform the following services for each of the three hangar doors:
· Comprehensive Inspection and Diagnostics:
· Conduct a thorough visual and operational inspection of each door to identify the source of the metal shavings.
· Inspect all moving parts, including but not limited to: lift straps, cables, drums, sheaves, rollers, guides, tracks, motors, and gearboxes.
· Examine the door structure for any signs of stress, fatigue, or damage.
· Provide a detailed report of findings for each door, including the identified cause of the metal shavings and a recommended plan for corrective action.
· Corrective Maintenance and Repair:

· Structural components as needed.
· Lubricants and Cleaning Supplies:
· Industrial-grade lubricants and greases suitable for hangar door systems.
· Cleaning agents and equipment to remove debris and old lubricant.
· Finishing Materials:
· Touch-up paint or coatings to repair any scratches or corrosion on the door panels and structure to prevent future corrosion.
All replacement parts should be Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) parts from MEGA Door (ASSA ABLOY) or an equivalent that meets or exceeds OEM specifications.
