STATEMENT OF WORK

FOR

VERTICAL LIFT SELF CONTAINED ELECTRO-HYDRAULIC ACTUATOR

Prepared by

NAVAL AIR WARFARE CENTER AIRCRAFT DIVISION – LAKEHURST

1. Scope This Statement of Work (SOW) has been prepared for purchase of an Electro-Hydraulic Actuator (EHA) and an accompanying control system. Detailed requirements are listed in section 2 below. In general, the product requested consists of an all in one hydraulic piston and an electric motor combination along with a position control system. A human machine interface (HMI) must be included for user control. The actuator must stand vertically and lift a specific load within a timeframe. An emergency control feature allowing lifting or lowering without power is required. A commercial off-the-shelf (COTS), modified COTS, or custom solution is acceptable.

2. Requirements

2.1. The contractor shall provide an Electro-Hydraulic Actuator.

2.1.1. The actuator, motor and hydraulic components shall be within close proximity as a self-contained system.

2.1.2. The actuator must have a stroke length of 75 inches.

2.1.3. The actuator must be vertically positioned. The actuator will be mounted to a plate on the ground with the rod point up.

2.1.4. The actuator must be able to lift and lower a weight of 400lbs

2.1.5. The maximum load requirement of the actuator is 5000lbf

2.1.6. The actuator must be able to raise and lower the full stroke within 25 seconds while carrying the weight described in section 2.1.4.

2.1.7. The actuator drive and control system shall be powered by 440V 3-Phase.

2.1.8. The end of the actuating cylinder must be a threaded rod with 3.000-12NF-2B x

3.5000 deep thread.

2.1.9. While size constraints are flexible, lower footprint designs are preferred.

Configurable and flexible layouts of the motor and cylinder will be considered.

2.2. A position control system consisting of a Human Machine Interface (HMI) and a controls cabinet shall be provided.

2.2.1. The HMI shall provide position controls to raise and lower the actuator at a particular speed setting.

2.2.2. Smaller footprint control cabinets will be highly considered.

2.3. All external cabling shall be included as a part of the purchase

2.4. The system must have the capability to hold the position on power loss or emergency.

2.4.1. Upon power loss or emergency, the actuator must be able to be controlled manually to lower or raise. This can be done hydraulically or physically with a crank or drill.

2.5. The control system cabinet and HMI shall be shipped ready to use, requiring only mounting, external wiring for power and wiring between the cylinder/motor assembly and the controls cabinet/HMI.
