About this file

This Statement of Work (SOW) details a well repair project for the US Department of Agriculture at Parish Cabin Campground. The project requires a licensed well driller to repair the water system, which includes replacing leaking plumbing in the well casing, moving all above-ground plumbing below ground to a depth of 42 inches to prevent freezing, installing a new waterproof well cap, and replacing two valves near the pumphouse. The contractor must submit a project plan three days before starting work, a safety plan prior to project commencement, water testing results within two weeks of completion, and a hazardous materials spill plan at the project's start.

Key deliverables include providing a written schedule/timeline, a built-up drawing of completed work, a well flow log with gallons per minute and test length, and water quality test results. The contractor is responsible for all travel and equipment transportation, must have at least one licensed well driller/pump setter on-site during work, and ensure site and equipment security. Government employees will clear trees and debris before the contractor arrives, and government representatives will use government vehicles for travel at no cost to the contractor.

Project Parrish Cabin Well

General Information

1.0 Scope of Work

Preform work to repair well plumbing system at Parish Cabin Campground.

2.0 Background

The water system at Parish Cabin Campground is not functioning adequately. There is a suspected leak in the plumbing in the well.

Additionally, this project will move the plumbing system at the pumphouse entirely below-ground to keep it frost free. Finally, this project will replace two valves just outside the pumphouse: a shutoff valve, and a drain valve. See below for details.

Contractor Requirements

3.0 Technical Requirements / Tasks

Replace any leaking plumbing in the well casing. This work will likely require pulling well plumbing and pump. If the pumphouse roof needs to be removed to conduct these repairs, the contractor will perform this work and replace it after work is complete. The roof and all structural components of the pumphouse will be secure and weatherproof after all work is complete.

Move all above-ground plumbing in/near the pumphouse to a depth of at least 42 inches below ground level to prevent freezing.

Install a pitless adapter and all associated plumbing to integrate with the existing plumbing line that leads to the water storage tank.

To access the well casing, excavate under the pumphouse concrete slab. Prevent damage to the concrete slab. After work is complete, backfill all excavations in 6 inch, well-compacted lifts.

It is expected that there may be artesian water pressure that develops inside the well casing. To address this, install a new, waterproof well cap and associated waterproof pump wiring.

Replace two valves immediately adjacent to the pumphouse: a shutoff valve, and a drain valve. Ensure they are located at least one foot beyond the extents of the pumphouse concrete slab. Ensure the buried valves have appropriate casing to be accessed from above ground, or ensure they are in an insulated valve box.

Inspect all plumbing connections for leaks. Submit the results of a flow test that assesses the well and pump system's operational capacity. Test and inspect the entire well and piping system’s integrity. Eliminate potential sources of contamination. Confirm water quality compliance. Submit the results of a water quality test.

The Contractor shall possess a valid well driller license and certification as a pump installer.

4.0 Government Furnished

Government employees will clear trees and debris on the ground before the contractor is on site to allow contractor access to the building to accomplish this work.

- Contractors must submit a written schedule/timeline to the COR so the Government can schedule their obligations for the project.
