About this file
This statement of work outlines requirements for the purchase of a molecular weight analyzer using multiangle light scattering technology. The Department of Agriculture Agricultural Research Service Midwest Area is seeking delivery and installation of a molecular weight analyzer no later than 120 days after issuing a purchase order. The analyzer must be able to quantify size and identify molecular weight and size of proteins, starches, nanoparticles and other biomolecules. It must include temperature control and a minimum of 7 angles for scattering detection. The analyzer will integrate with an existing Shimadzu GPC/SEC instrument and include software and onsite training. Delivery will be to 1815 N University, Peoria, IL 61604 and require a liftgate. Introduction or additional training may be provided at installation or separately.
This statement of work corresponds to solicitation 12505B23Q0356 for a molecular weight analyzer issued by the same Department of Agriculture Agricultural Research Service Midwest Area agency.

Statement of Work Weight Analyzer
Project Purchase of Molecular Weight Analyzer
General Information
1.0 Scope of Work
Vendor is to deliver a molecular weight analyzer using multi‐angle light scattering (MALS) technology for quantification of the size of proteins, starches, nanoparticles, and other biomolecules.
2.0 Background
The utilization of proteins from corn (zein), wheat (gliadin), and other agricultural products is a major part of the research of our CRIS. To better understand the properties of these proteins, and to enable their successful use in future bio‐based products, it is vitally important to understand the size, shape, and behavior of these protein molecules. One of the most important characteristics to understand is the molecular weight of the proteins. By combining a molecular weight analyzer using multi‐angle light scattering (MALS) technology with our existing gel‐permeation/size exclusion chromatography (GPC/SEC) instrumentation, we will be able to obtain fast, accurate, and reliable information about the size and shape of protein molecules, as well as the nanoparticles we develop through our research. This enhanced understanding will enable us to significantly advance the development of novel nanoparticles with various commercial benefits.
