USDA ARS WHNRC

Statement of Work

The mission of the WHNRC is to conduct nutrition research studies aimed at improving the health of all Americans. To achieve this goal, the WHNRC conducts studies with human volunteers in the building at 430 W. Health Sciences Drive, on the UC Davis campus. One unique aspect of the WHNRC building is a 12 bed Metabolic Research Unit (MRU) and a whole room calorimeter. These spaces contain standard hospital beds (13 total beds) that require bed linens, as the WHNRC does not own any linen supplies and does not have a way to professionally launder linens on site. There are studies that require that a study volunteer is present for up to 12 hours. Future studies, that are already funded, include study volunteers who reside overnight in the MRU for up to 14 days. Research participants also receive dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) scans which require hospital scrubs to ensure data accuracy and participant safety.

Sanitation and infection control is essential in these spaces. Communicable diseases such as methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is an example of a concern in facilities such as the MRU. It is imperative that the WHNRC be able to rent, and have professionally laundered, standard hospital linens and scrubs.

It is essential to have clean linens delivered on a weekly basis during business hours (8 AM – 5 PM) every Wednesday excluding Federal holidays, in which the delivery will be made on the Thursday of that week. It is essential to have soiled linen picked up on a weekly basis during the same business hours (8 AM – 5 PM) every Wednesday excluding Federal holidays, in which the pickup will occur on the Thursday of that week. A soiled laundry bag should be provided by the vendor. The deliveries and pickups will take place in room 192 of the WHNRC.

We request a base plus two option year contract. The deliverable dates for the base contract are 9/12/2022 through 9/11/2023. The period of service dates for the option years are:
