About this file
This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the refurbishment, qualification, inspection, and delivery of Rate Integrating Gyroscopes, MIL-G-81168/5B, used in the MK-82 Gun and Guided Missile Director. The Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane Division, located at 300 Highway 361, Crane, IN 47522, is the designated overhaul point. The contractor must furnish all equipment, parts, and labor necessary for refurbishment and is responsible for shipment of all completed gyroscopes to NSWC Crane. Deliverables must comply with MIL-G-81168, MIL-G-81168/5 Revision B, MIL-STD-129, with requirements of MIL-G-81168/5 superseding conflicting provisions in MIL-G-81168. All gyroscopes delivered to the Government must include Level C packaging, equipment markings, and identification per MIL-STD-129.
The SOW requires three primary phases: (1) Evaluation Inspection (CDRL A001) involving pre-test/inspection to assess gyroscope condition, functional testing per SOW Section 3.3, and physical inspection for corrosion, cracks, or deterioration, with defective subcomponents designated for replacement; (2) Refurbishment and Testing (CDRL A002) following MIL-G-81168 Table I Schedule 2 and paragraphs 4.8-4.9, excluding Schedule 1 tests; and (3) Qualification (CDRL A002) per MIL-G-81168 Para 4.3 and Table I Schedule 1. Component Certifications (CDRL A003) require Certificates of Compliance for all hardware items. The contractor must maintain an ISO 9001-2015 compliant quality program, implement counterfeit parts mitigation procedures using authorized sources or suppliers meeting SAE standards (AS5553A, AS5452, AS6081, ARP617, AS6174, AS6301), and notify the Contracting Officer of any counterfeit or suspect counterfeit material. The Government furnishes technical documentation and gyroscopes for refurbishment; the contractor provides all equipment and processes.
