About this file

This Statement of Work (SOW) details the procurement of dental supplies for the Indian Health Service's Mid-Atlantic Tribal Health Center (MATHC) in Charles City, Virginia. The acquisition supports a new direct care clinic serving seven federally recognized tribes in Virginia, with supplies to be delivered around August 1, 2025, coinciding with the facility's anticipated opening in September 2025. The contractor must provide a comprehensive set of dental supplies, meet specific color and specification requirements, deliver and unpack items in coordination with the Supervisory Dentist, and be prepared to adjust delivery timelines based on potential construction delays.

Key requirements include serving as a single reliable source for all dental supplies, ensuring proper packaging and shipping, replacing any damaged goods at no additional cost, and removing all packing materials after delivery. The supplies will support the Indian Health Service's mission to improve the physical, mental, social, and spiritual health of American Indians and Alaska Natives. The procurement is specifically for the Nashville Area's Mid-Atlantic Service Unit, which was founded in 2019 after seven Virginia tribes received federal recognition, and will serve the Pamunkey, Chickahominy, Eastern Chickahominy, Monacan, Nansemond, Rappahannock, and Upper Mattaponi tribes.

1.1 Background

The mission of the Indian Health Service (IHS) is to raise the physical, mental, social, and spiritual health of American Indians and Alaska Natives to the highest level. Our Vision is for healthy communities and quality health care systems through strong partnerships and culturally responsive practices. This acquisition will enable the service unit to provide dental services via the Mid- Atlantic Tribal Health Center (MATHC) Dental Programs.

The Nashville Area is the most geographically and culturally diverse Area within IHS. This poses unique challenges to our staff and requires the use of creativity, flexibility, and understanding in accomplishing our mission. The Mid-Atlantic Service Unit serves the Pamunkey, Chickahominy, Eastern Chickahominy, Monacan, Nansemond, Rappahannock, and Upper Mattaponi tribes. The completion of the MATHC facilities is imminent. Therefore, it is necessary to acquire all necessary dental supplies to support our staff and serve the patients effectively. Our ability to perform optimally depends on having these resources in place.
