Statement of Work (SOW) Project: Microplot Installation
GENERAL INFORMATION
1.0 Scope of Work: We are installing microplots (cut from culvert pipes) to isolate test areas from the surrounding soil. Plots need to be in a row orientation. We will perform a variety of work in these plots including nematode and disease research.
2.0 Background: We need the microplot pipes (36” diameter/24” tall) installed. Each
“row” will be 15 plots long. The plots will be installed in 4 row sections with an 18’ drive row between each 4-row section. We also need underground irrigation installed that ends with an emitter to water each plot. The installation area is in a fallow agricultural field without any overhead structures. We currently have 120 pipes ready for installation, with a total of 300 total needed to complete the project.
The entire plot area needs to be identical in layout and irrigation.
CONTRACTOR REQUIREMENTS
3.0 Technical Requirements/Tasks:
o 120 culvert pipes will be installed 18” deep, leaving 6” of pipe above ground level.
o Each row will contain 15 plots installed, all spaced 8’ apart from center to center.
o Rows will be spaced 9’ apart from center to center.
o Rows will be in blocks of 4 with a drive row between each block. Each drive row will be approximately 12’ wide.
o A main line will need to be installed from a nearby riser to supply water to each row.
Each irrigation row will need an accessible manual ball valve installed close to the main irrigation line to turn on/off irrigation as needed.
o Each plot will have its own irrigation emitter adequate to water the entire plot, but not over-reaching watering outside of the plot. The emitter and required plumbing must run vertically along the inside edge of the culvert pipe.
o The south end of the main line will need an accessible ball valve installed to act as a low point drain for the entire irrigation system.
4.0 Government Furnished: The microplots will be installed on UGA property in
Tifton, Ga. The irrigation source will be from a deep well already in-service on the property.
5.0 Deliverables / Schedule: The project will need to be completed within 30 days of award of contract.
