Quesons and Answers for 12405B24Q0107
I just want to clarify that the pipes will be furnished by the Dept. of Agriculture, or the USDA ARS SEA AAO ACQ/PER PROP office and the prime contractor is only installing the plots? USDA will furnish the culvert pipes used for the microplots.
When will we know if the addional 180 need to be installed? Is it at or near the same locaon or a totally different locaon? It will depend on funding. Same locaon.
Also, we need more info on water line type, size, and type of emiters. The USDA-ARS representave does not know this informaon. The contractor will need to determine what is needed to adequately irrigate the plots as stated in the Statement of Work (below). A site visit is highly encouraged.
o A main irrigaon line will need to be made of pvc. It will be installed from a nearby riser to supply water to each row. Each irrigaon row will need to be made of pvc and have an accessible underground manual brass ball valve installed close to the main irrigaon line to turn on/off irrigaon as needed.
o Each 36-inch-diameter plot will have its own irrigaon emiter adequate to water the enre plot, but not over-reaching watering outside of the plot. The emiter and required plumbing must run vercally along the inside edge of the culvert pipe.
o The south end of the main line will need an accessible ball valve installed to act as a low point drain for the enre irrigaon system.
The irrigation source will be from a deep well already in-service on the property.
Site Visit: Bidders are encouraged to visit the sight and be escorted by a government representative to confirm locations, dimensions, and conditions of the project before a bid is submitted. The site visit shall be for the purpose of observing firsthand any conditions relevant to the completion of this project. No consideration will be given to claims based on lack of knowledge of existing conditions, except where contract documents make definite provisions for adjustment in cost or extension due to existing conditions not readily foreseeable. This project is located at S. Entomology Dr in Tifton GA
Will the addional 180 pipes be provided if you choose to proceed with the oponal 180 microplots?
The addional 180 pipes will be provided if funding to complete the project comes available.
Aer reviewing the plot map, I wanted to confirm if a grid will be laid out as a guide to ensure the plots are installed in the intended locaon?
A plot grid will NOT be laid out by USDA-ARS to use as a guide for installaon. The grid will be laid out by the winning bidder measured from a north/south line and an east/west line laid off by me just prior to construcon. A paral grid is currently laid out for the site visit we had on March 12, but that will be removed by the end of next week as the field needs to be tended to unl construcon begins.
