About this file
This statement of work outlines requirements for two small ruminant headspace gas collection systems. The systems must be able to accommodate dairy or beef calves from birth to six months of age, or other adult small ruminants, in free-stall, pen-based, or tie-stall research settings. Required components include methane, carbon dioxide, hydrogen, and oxygen analyzers, a feed dispensing unit, free-stall cart, auto-calibration of gas sensors, a mass scale for carbon dioxide measurements, a wind sensor, and a removable exclusion gate for group or pen studies. Additional requirements consist of Wi-Fi and cellular internet connectivity, installation of all components, employee training, and a service contract. Delivery is to occur at the US Dairy Forage Research Center farm in Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin. Employee training should take place within a month of delivery, with a company representative present for the first day of use.

Statement of Work (SOW)
Project: Small ruminant headspace gas emission collection systems
GENERAL INFORMATION
1.0 Scope of Work:
The UDSA-ARS is requesting bids for purchase of two small ruminant headspace gas collection systems for group studies purchase. Specifications for this purchase are itemized below.
2.0 Background: The USDA-ARS Prairie du Sac station is seeking the addition of headspace gas emission collection units for dairy youngstock and other small ruminant studies measuring carbon, hydrogen, and methane emissions. We require an analyzing system that is versatile in application to free-stall, pen-based, or tie-stall small ruminant research. These units will be used to accommodate dairy or beef calves (ranging in age from birth to six months) or other adult small ruminants, adding to its application in multiple research areas within the USDA-ARS.
