Statement of Work (SOW) Mowing & Snow Services

GENERAL INFORMATION

1.0 Scope of Work: Mowing and snow services will be located at the USDA-ARS Biological

Control of Insects Research Laboratory, Columbia, Missouri.

Mowing services is to include mowing all grassy areas on property back to the greenhouse, approximately 4-5 acres. Excluded from mowing are the areas behind the greenhouse, including the pond, fenced in area, and drainage ditches.

Snow services to include plowing, shoveling and/or de-icing coverage begins when approximately 3" of snow has fallen and will continue at periodic intervals throughout the storm.

2.0 Background: The USDA-ARS Biological Control of Insects Research Laboratory, located at 1503 S. Providence Road, Columbia, Missouri required mowing of approximately 4-6 acres to be properly maintained and provide orderly appearance. This service has been procured at this location since the purchase of the property in 1957.

CONTRACTOR REQUIREMENTS

3.0 Technical Requirements/Tasks:

Service tasks include, but are not limited to:

1) Mow grassy areas (approximately 4-5 acres) are to be mowed no less than once every 10 days. During dry periods, mow as needed.

2) Mowing height will be 2½ to 3 inches in the spring and fall, and 3 to 3½ inches in the summer.

3) Trim around buildings, sidewalks, and split rail fence posts. Keep all weeds trimmed from parking lot, sidewalk, and driveway.

4) Trash and debris picked up and clippings removed from sidewalks and paved areas.

5) Snow plowing will occur after all snow has stopped accumulation and removed from accessible parking areas.

6) Snow shoveling will occur after all snow has stopped accumulation and removed from all entrances, walkways, stairways, and handicap access ramps will be serviced on an as needed basis.

7) De-icing materials will be applied to driveway/ parking lot, walkway, stairway, and handicap access ramp areas. The decision as to when and how much material is to be applied is based on many factors including but not limited to current ground temperature, current weather forecasts from the national weather service and future weather predictions.

8) Contractor must provide own equipment.

9) Contractor assumes responsibility for any damage done to landscape lighting fixtures and will pay for replacement of fixtures.

4.0 Government Furnished: Government-furnished support is limited to the access of the location to complete services.

5.0 Deliverables / Schedule:

7.0 Contractor’s Key Personnel: The Contractor shall provide qualified professionals having experience to perform required mowing services at the USDA-ARS Biological Control of Insects Research Laboratory.

8.0 Security Requirements: The Contractor shall be responsible for safety of workers.

9.0 Data Rights: Not applicable.

10.0 Section 508 – Electronic and Information Technology Standards: Not applicable.
