About this file

The document is a Sole Source Justification for Cidi Labs' suite of Canvas learning management system (LMS) tools, developed in partnership with Utah State University (USU) and the University of Central Florida. The suite includes five products: DesignPLUS, ReadyGO, TidyUP, UDOIT Advantage, and Cidiscape, which are specialized plug-in tools designed to enhance course design, development, and accessibility within the Canvas LMS. Each product serves a unique purpose, such as course authoring (DesignPLUS), course readiness tracking (ReadyGO), course cleanup (TidyUP), and accessibility scanning and remediation (UDOIT Advantage).

The justification emphasizes that these tools are unique in the market, with no comparable alternatives available. The products were originally developed by universities (USU and UCF) and exclusively licensed to Cidi Labs for distribution via a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model. The tools aim to increase productivity, creativity, and accessibility in online course design, with features like content scanning, reporting capabilities, and universal design principles integration. The document highlights that these tools are specifically built for the Canvas LMS and offer functionalities that are not available in other market solutions, thereby justifying their sole source procurement status.

Sole Source Justification

Cidi Labs Suite of Products: DesignPLUS, ReadyGO, TidyUP, UDOIT Advantage and Cidiscape

Cidi Labs was started in partnership with Utah State University to enable “SaaS-sharing” of locally-developed instructional design tools and innovations. Our flagship product, DesignPLUS (Design Tools for

Canvas), is the leading advanced course authoring toolset to natively integrate with the Canvas LMS. Over the past 8 years, Cidi Labs has grown to provide a suite of affordable, easy-to-use plug-in tools for Canvas that help course designers and educators quickly and easily create exceptional learning experiences. Cidi

Labs products dramatically increase productivity, ignite creativity, and scale the delivery of high-quality, accessible learning for all students. Cidi Labs products

DesignPLUS - Design Tools for Canvas, is a suite of instructional design tools built by Utah State University

(USU) specifically for integration with Instructure Canvas. It provides functionality that facilitates efficiencies, consistency, and accessibility in course design. It was built for use by faculty, instructional designers, and course developers. There is currently no other tool that offers the same or similar functionality on the market. That is the reason USU built it and subsequently licensed it exclusively to Cidi Labs for resale via a

Software-as-a-Service delivery model.

ReadyGO - ReadyGO for Canvas is a course readiness tracker that lives in Canvas built by Utah State

University (USU) to easily monitor course development progress and track important readiness metrics. The

ReadyGO tools help the Instructional Design team ensure courses have content, contain a syllabus, and have instructors and students assigned. The tool also has built-in reporting capabilities that allow the ability to quickly create and share status reports with managers to streamline the semester start process.

TidyUP - TidyUP for Canvas is a simple Canvas tool that allows a user to scan Canvas courses for unpublished pages and unlinked files and provides the ability to delete them from the Canvas course. The tool was built by the team at Utah State University and is only available on the Canvas LMS.

UDOIT Advantage - UDOIT Advantage is hosted and supported by Cidi Labs in partnership with the University of Central Florida. UDOIT Advantage scans online course content and files to identify possible accessibility issues and guides designers and faculty in repairing those issues using Universal Design principles. The tool has a unique feature of converting inaccessible files quickly into a Canvas page – a feature only available within the UDOIT Advantage tool. UDOIT Advantage provides accessibility scoring and education within the tool to help users better understand how to create more accessible content.
