4. Performance Requirements

4.1 Staffing Coverage and Continuity

Provide sufficient qualified personnel to cover every Government-approved shift and on-call period.

Submit and maintain a staffing schedule before the applicable schedule period begins. Identify assigned personnel, shift dates and times, and on-call responsibilities.

Ensure each substitute or replacement meets all qualification, credential, training, and access requirements before beginning duty.

Notify the Government point of contact promptly when an absence or coverage risk arises and provide a qualified replacement before the affected shift or on-call period begins.

Coordinate schedule changes with the Radiology Director, or designee. Government approval of a schedule change does not transfer personnel-management responsibility to the Government.

Maintain continuity during evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and after-hours periods, including indirect clinical consultation by telephone when Government supervisors are not onsite.

4.2 Clinical CT and Radiographic Services

Verify the authorized provider order, patient identity, requested examination, and relevant clinical information before imaging.

Evaluate images for diagnostic quality, including positioning, technical factors, density, detail, contrast, legal identification, and use of protective devices.

Consult the Chief Technologist, Radiology Director, radiologist, or designee when image quality, protocol selection, equipment performance, or patient condition requires additional guidance.

Repeat examinations only when clinically necessary and authorized under facility procedures; minimize preventable repeat images attributable to positioning, technique, identification, or protocol error.

4.3 Patient and Radiation Safety

Prevent unnecessary radiation exposure to patients, self, and others by using the minimum appropriate exposure settings, limiting beam size, using available lead shields and protective devices, and operating from behind a protective screen/console or while wearing protective clothing as required.

Apply facility procedures for contrast media, infection prevention, patient movement, and assistance with transfers or lifting.

Immediately report patient-safety events, radiation-safety events, contrast reactions, wrong-patient or wrong-procedure concerns, and equipment malfunctions through facility channels and to the Government point of contact.

Stop or defer a procedure when patient condition, equipment condition, or missing clinical information makes continued performance unsafe, and obtain appropriate clinical direction.

4.4 Patient Records, PACS, and Image Routing

Keep complete and accurate patient records for each examination in the Government-furnished patient record system and related radiology systems.

Ensure correct legal identification and examination metadata are associated with each image and record.
