About this file

This file is a Vendor Questions and Answers document for solicitation SPMYM326Q3113 regarding a vent silencer procurement. The document addresses three primary vendor inquiries submitted as of Amendment 01 dated March 10, 2026, pertaining to technical specifications and design parameters for the silencer system.

The vendors raised critical clarification requests regarding design specifications, including: confirmation of the maximum allowable airflow rate (referenced as "12,000 SCFM or more"), the precise temperature range of venting air (noted as "-5 deg F or less"), the maximum inlet pressure rating (specified as "125 PSIG or greater"), whether the vent operation is intermittent or continuous, and the measurement distance for noise level calculations (85 dBA). All three vendor questions received identical responses directing vendors to consult updates to the Material Specifications, indicating that detailed technical parameters necessary for accurate quotation were provided through specification amendments rather than being addressed individually in this Q&A document. The government's responses emphasize the critical importance of precise design parameters, noting that undersizing or oversizing the silencer relative to actual operating conditions could result in equipment failure.

SPMYM326Q3113 Vent Silencer Questions – as of Amendment 01 3/10/2026:

Q1) If you need the silencer to handle more flow or greater or lower, then that needs to be advised as that makes it too open ended. For example if we design the silencer to vent 12,000 SCFM and it vents 25,000 SCFM, then the silencer could fail and blow up. We design to a maximum and the silencer does not handle more. Is this ok?

A1) See updates to Material Specifications.

Q2) The specification and sketch show 12,000 SCFM (or more) intermittent air flow. We need to know the maximum air flow through the vent or control valve. The specification and sketch show 125 PSIG (or greater) pressure rating at inlet. We need to know the pressure and temperature of the air upstream of the vent or control valve. Can you please provide the additional information in the fill-in data sheet to ensure we have all of the information we need to quote?

A2) See updates to Material Specifications.

Q3) Please see below clarifications we will need in order to prepare an accurate quote for you:

• The flow is described as “12,000 SCFM or more”. What should be our design flow rate?

• What is the temperature range of the air flowing through the pipe? Or is this system venting air at -5 deg F or less? The temperature is called out as “-5 deg F or less”

• What is the maximum pressure of the air? You called out “125psig or greater”

• Is this an intermittent or a continuous vent?

• At what distance from the silencer outlet should we calculate the 85dBA? 3ft, 5ft, 20ft…(?)

A3) See updates to Material Specifications.
