About this file
This is a Special Packaging Instruction (DD Form 2169) for a vehicular transmission (NSN 2520-01-548-4841, Part No. 12414438-011) dated February 28, 2007. The document provides detailed preservation and packaging requirements for a dressed transmission with container assembly.
The packaging instructions specify that the transmission must be filled with operational oil, rotated for complete coverage, then drained and sealed. The unit requires MIL-PRF-16173 Grade 4 preservation on unpainted exterior metallic surfaces, with all openings sealed using SAE-AMS-T-22085 Type II tape or NAS847-compliant caps/plugs. The unit container, which serves as the shipping container, requires 64 units of MIL-D-3464 desiccant in its basket. The complete package weighs 2,291 lbs with dimensions of 70.9" x 44.2" x 43.1". The document includes a technical drawing showing the location for three brackets (29537910) and three bolts (11514354) that must be relocated during assembly. Quality assurance inspection must be performed according to MIL-STD-2073-1D standards.
