SAN SIMON SCHOOL
STATEMENT OF WORK
SPECIAL EDUCATION CONSULTANT
August 2023
I. Background/Purpose The San Simon School (Tohono O’odham) is a Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) operated school located in Sells, AZ. As a BIE operated school, San Simon School is responsible for providing a high-quality Special Education (SPED) Consultant.
II. Scope of Work
a) Provide job embedded coaching for SPED teachers and educational technicians.
b) Develop SPED teacher and educational technician's capacity in the areas of modifications, accommodations, adaptations, and explicit teaching strategies.
c) Coordinate with teachers and support staff to implement systems and routines that increase engagement, encourage positive behavior, and support executive functioning.
d) Consultants shall meet teachers and support staff where they are in their knowledge of the standards and help frame these academic standards for explicit instruction and aid in IEP goal setting.
e) Shall support SPED teachers and educational technicians with tips, strategies, and forms for organization and collaboration.
f) Provide monthly visits with SPED teachers for instructional strategies, co-teaching, and co-planning.
g) Shall provide SPED kits and tools, along with support on those items.
h) Support with IEP development and individualized goals
i) Behavior support
j) Provide classroom structure, environment and room arrangement.
k) Schedules and routines
l) Support inclusion classrooms
m) Develop reading groups to help improve the reading skills of SPED students.
n) Provide reporting of visits
III. Period of Performance/Delivery:
a) 08/09/2023-05/22/2024
b) 8 visits per month during the school year.
