About this file

This is a Specification Sheet for Wire Harness Braiding Machines issued by Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho, dated 15 January 2026.

The 366th Maintenance Group requires four wire harness braiding machines: two 32-carrier systems and two 24-carrier systems to apply textile and metal braid materials onto wire harnesses for Conformal Fuel Tanks used in F-15E aircraft. Approved models include the Cobra 450 WC-24C-P1, Cobra WC-32-P1, Wardwell B10-24H, and Wardwell B10-32H. Two machines will replace outdated equipment in the Electrical and Environmental backshop, while two will be provided to an OID contractor for constructing new CFT wire harnesses. The machines must comply with NAVAIR 17-5-10, Technical Order 1-1A-14, or Boeing PS17115.2 REV AF specifications.

Minimum specifications require 32 and 24 carrier configurations with vinyl-coated textile and metal braiding material compatibility, adjustable height center tube for back braiding, motorized pulley system with motor drive guards, 220V single-phase 60Hz electrical capability, overload detection and low voltage stop motion with indication system, automatic lubrication system providing continuous oil application, and braiding material procurable through the USAF supply system. The Contractor must provide all specialized tooling needed for setup and installation, with the Government providing generic tooling and ensuring proper operation. Any equipment not functioning per manufacturer specifications shall be warranted and repaired by the Contractor. Shipping is included in the quotation, with delivery required to 366 LRS LGRDDC (DoDAAC: FB4897), 270 Aardvark Street, Building 1132, Mountain Home AFB, ID 83648. The Contractor shall provide technical support online or by telephone for any operational issues.

SPECIFICATION SHEET

Mountain Home AFB, ID

Wire Harness Braiding Machines 15 January, 2026

1. GENERAL: The 366th Maintenance Group at Mountain Home AFB, ID, requires four (4) Wire Harness Braiding machines (2ea, 32 carrier systems and 2ea, 24 carrier systems) to apply textile and metal braid materials onto wire harnesses. Approved models include the Cobra 450 WC-24C-P1 Cobra WC-32-P1, Wardwell B10-24H, and Wardwell B10-32H. The degrading quality and reliability of wiring in Conformal Fuel Tanks (CFTs) has created a critical issue with the availability of serviceable tanks for the 366th Fighter Wing's F-15E aircraft. A primary objective of this acquisition is to enable the rewiring of critical harnesses that are frequently damaged by routine access, maintenance, and wear. Many of these harnesses are no longer procurable through the standard supply system. Two braiding machines will replace outdated equipment in the Electrical and Environmental backshop. The remaining two machines will be provided to the OID contractor to facilitate the construction of new CFT wire harnesses.
