About this file
This document is a comprehensive set of technical specifications for the Kane Experimental Forest Roof Replacements project issued by the USDA Forest Service's Northern Research Station. The project involves removing and replacing approximately 7,100 square feet of asphalt shingle roofing across six buildings located in Kane, Pennsylvania. The scope of work includes complete roof system replacement, including synthetic underlayment, architectural shingles, drip edge, valley/ridge shingles, step flashings, and penetration flashings, with provisions for potential sheathing and support replacement as needed. An additional line item allows for replacement of damaged roof sheathing and supports, which will be approved by the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR).
The solicitation requires a single prime contractor to perform the work, with specific technical requirements detailed across multiple specification sections covering demolition, carpentry, roofing, and site restoration. Key technical specifications include using Owen's Corning Duration architectural shingles in Chateau Green, synthetic underlayment, and adherence to specific installation methods. The project includes provisions for weed and disease prevention, construction waste management, and post-construction seeding. Work is to be performed between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with Davis-Bacon wage rates applicable. The primary contacts are Ray White (Contracting Officer's Representative) and Julie Smithbauer (Site Contact), both from the USDA Forest Service.
