Sheet1 Spec Sheet for replacement vessel, engine, trailer
Purpose: This vessel is to increase emergency response capability in the South District of Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The South District currently has two boats to cover a 29 mile reservoir with about 120 miles of shoreline belonging to the NPS. Due to the response distances, one boat is stationed on the east end of the lake and the other is on the west end. The boat on the east end is a 25 year old fiberglass hull boat. The boat is currently experiencing hull damage and transom fractures. Due to the current state of the fiberglass hull, response is degraded to a single boat with an extended response time. This addition will increase the district's response capability allowing us to stage this boat on the east end of the reservoir to best provide for rapid deployment in emergency situations.
Scope of Use: This vessel will be utilized by the South District Ranger staff for regular lake patrol as well as SAR operations on a 29 mile reservoir with about 120 miles of shoreline belonging to the NPS. Vessels are necessary for emergency access to 120 miles of shoreline, 100k acres or backcountry, hundreds of miles of trails and 25 backcountry campsites (5 are boat access only).
