About this file

This document provides specifications for a low-energy electron beam system procurement and a related notice of intent to issue a sole source award. The United States Department of Agriculture Agricultural Research Service Southeast Area intends to award a sole source contract to PCT Ebeam and Integration, LLC for one low-energy electron beam system. The system must be a self-shielded generator that operates between 80 and 200 kV, produces energies up to 200 keV at a maximum of 2.25 kW power and 20 mA current, and can process samples sized at 8.25 by 11.7 inches on an adjustable tray. Responses to the notice of intent were due by June 28, 2022 to be considered for the sole source award to meet the research needs of the USDA Poultry Production and Product Safety Research Unit in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Low-Energy Electron Beam

Researchers at the USDA/ARS/SEA, Poultry Production and Product Safety Research Unit in Fayetteville, AR, have a need for a low-energy electron beam that can inactivate pathogens. The low-energy electron beam will be used to inactivate pathogens such as Bacteria, Viruses, and Protozoan parasites.

The unit must meet the following specs to meet our research needs:

1. A self-shielded Low-Energy electron beam generator

2. Operates at the voltage ranging from 80 to 200 kV

3. Produces energies up to 200 keV with a maximum Emitter Power of 2.25 kW

4. Produces a maximum beam current of 20 mA

5. Processes a sample size of 8.25 inches x 11.7 inches

6. Adjustable tray for sample height
