About this file

This document is a specifications file for a maintenance dredging project at the United States Coast Guard Station Eatons Neck in Northport, New York. The project requires mechanical dredging of approximately 6,000 cubic yards of sand, gravel, and cobbles from the entrance channel, with all work to be completed by March 24, 2026. The dredging must be performed using water-based equipment, with material transported by barge and placed uniformly along the 800-foot Coast Guard Shoreline Disposal Area, with specific constraints on accessing the eastern half of the disposal site due to shallow obstructions.

The contract specifies detailed requirements for survey methods, equipment, disposal procedures, and environmental protections. The contractor will be compensated based on actual cubic yards of material removed, with a unit price to be applied for quantities that differ from the 6,000 cubic yard estimate. Key technical specifications include using mechanical dredging methods, maintaining navigation channel accessibility, preventing material seepage during transport, and spreading dredged material using land-based equipment mobilized via water-based vessels. The project is governed by federal and state permits, with strict environmental and operational guidelines to minimize disruption to the coastal environment and Coast Guard station operations.
