About this file
This specification document outlines requirements for prefabricated single-occupant video conference booths for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR). The booths must meet strict security and accessibility standards, with interior dimensions of minimum 35" x 35" x 84" for standard units and 42" x 84" x 84" for accessible models. The specifications include detailed requirements for wall construction (minimum 14-gauge steel with perforated interior finish and 18-gauge exterior), ceiling/roof assemblies, steel doors and frames meeting ANSI/SDI A250.8 Level 3 standards, polycarbonate glazing, LED lighting, exhaust systems with minimum 55 CFM capacity, and integrated telecommunications infrastructure including network switches, Ethernet ports, and power receptacles. All exposed fasteners must be stainless steel and tamperproof in accordance with security standards. Acceptable manufacturers listed as basis of design include PoPS (Pillar of Public Safety), Cubicall, and SpaceWorx, with substitutions available through established procedures. The project requires comprehensive submittals including shop drawings with isometric and 3D images, seismic anchor plans, lighting and communications diagrams, product data, and samples of finishes within 10 days after Notice to Proceed.
The specification mandates a minimum 10-year manufacturer's warranty and requires booths to comply with current ADA Standards for Accessible Design and California Building Code requirements. All materials must achieve flame spread ratings not exceeding 25 and smoke density not exceeding 450 per ASTM E84, with wall and ceiling assemblies achieving minimum STC rating of 35dB per ASTM E90. The document specifies installation of casters with 800-pound minimum load capacity, leveling feet with 1,000-pound capacity, and seismic restraints for safety. Anti-ligature and anti-contraband design features are required throughout, including removable interior wall panels and sealed gaps. Operation and maintenance manuals must be submitted in both hard copy (three copies) and PDF format on USB 3.0 memory sticks at least 20 days before final contract milestone. The CDCR Representative must approve all submittals, which will be reviewed within 20 days of receipt, with "No Exception Taken" or "Make Corrections Noted" status allowing work to proceed.
