Optical Color Sorter Required Minimum Specifications
• The optical color sorter will be used to sort seed based on characteristics such as seed size, shape, and visible discoloration caused by disease and other environmental stresses during seed production to obtain clean, high quality seed lots.
• The sorter should include color classification and composite part analysis, including seed size and shape analysis and basic charting of collected data.
• Seed hopper should be 45 degree with an automated gate
• Light source should be at least 6500K LED
• There should be two, full-color cameras
• Pneumatic ejection should include a minimum of 36 ejectors.
• Unit should have a small footprint (max of 48” x 24” x 60“) allowing for sample placement from the ground and mounted on casters for mobility.
• Unit should contain software to allow for dual use as an accurate seed counter.
• Unit should provide for barcode scanning capability to link sorting and/or counting data to specific barcoded seed lots.
• Soybean specific software for seed coat analysis and separation, hilum isolation, and splits separation.
• The optical color sorter should be delivered, installed, and be fully functioning by
1 December 2021. Any additional equipment necessary from the manufacturer for the operation of the optical color sorter should be itemized and included in the proposal.
• Proper installation and training costs should be itemized and included in the proposal.
• Vendor’s personnel should be trained and certified to perform any training and work required for installation of the unit.
• Installation should be completed during regular business hours (7:00 am to 4:00 pm), Monday through Friday.
