4.0 FIBER OPTIC SPLICING TRAILER SPECIFICATION

4.1 SCOPE

This trailer is intended to be used as a mobile laboratory for fiber optic cable splicing activity. The trailer is to be self-contained, with its own electric power source, climate controlled and dust free. The trailer is to be new, manufacturers’ latest production model and ready for use upon delivery.

4.2 GENERAL TRAILER REQUIREMENTS

Trailer to have a maximum overall length of 13’-6” and a maximum overall width of 8’-0”. All lighting and brakes must comply with DOT requirements and overall trailer must comply with all Federal Safety Standards.

4.3 FRAME

The frame is to be all structural grade 6061-T6 aluminum construction for a maximum weight advantage. The main beams are to be rectangular tubing with minimum wall thickness range of 1/4” - 1/2” to maintain structural integrity. Floor cross members are to be 4” “I” beams, 16” on center.

4.4 AXLES

Axles are to be rubber torsion type for a gross axle weight rating of at least 3500 lbs. Axle hubs are to be supplied with bearing greasers.

4.5 BRAKES

Electric 10” x 2” drum brakes on all wheels are required. A DOT approved breakaway switch is required.

4.6 WHEELS/TIRES

Wheels to be 15” x 6” wide with a 5 on 4-1/2” B.C. hole pattern. Tires to be ST205/75R15 radials.

Quantity of four wheel/tire assemblies required.

4.7 HITCH/COUPLER

7000 lb. minimum capacity 3” diameter lunette eye is required. Lunette eye is to be height adjustable. A minimum of 24” long safety chains with hooks rated at or above the 7000 lb. GVWR are to be supplied.

4.8 LANDING GEAR

Tongue mounted telescopic swivel type landing jack with sand pad is to be supplied. Minimum 2000 lb.

4.9 STABILIZER JACKS

Minimum 2000 lb. capacity. Four (4) pipe mount swivel brackets located at all four corners for use with stabilizer jacks are required. Trailer is to be supplied with two telescopic swivel type stabilizer jacks located each side of trailer on rear.

4.10 BODY SIZE

Nominal exterior body length to be 5’”. Nominal exterior body width to be 8’. Nominal interior height to be 6’-8”.

4.11 BODY CONSTRUCTION

Wall posts to be 2-3/4” x 1” aluminum flat sections on 16” centers. Roof bows to be 1-1/2” x 2” aluminum tubing on 24” centers. Flooring to be interlocking extruded aluminum panels. Exterior sheeting to be .040” thick aluminum with white baked-on enamel finish. Exterior roof sheeting to be .040” thick aluminum sheet of seamless construction. Exterior rub rails around trailer body base to be extruded aluminum van type for maximum durability. Walls and ceiling to be insulated to minimum R-11 rating and covered with .040” thick white aluminum sheeting.

4.12 DOORS

Entry door is required, centered on rear wall Door is to be 2” thick double seal construction with locking door latch and locking dead bolt. Minimum dimensions are to be 24” wide x 72” high. Each door is to have a sliding window with tinted safety glass and screen. Nominal size of windows to be 18” wide x 15” high. Chrome exterior grab handles are to be located at each door.

4.13 WINDOWS

Slider windows is required on at least one side. Windows to include tinted safety glass and screen.

Nominal size to be approximately 30” wide x 20” high.

4.14 CABLE SLOTS

(1) cable slot, 3” x 12” clear dimensions are required in each entry door jamb, and are to have reinforcement in wall frame to assure rigidity of frame and integrity of door seals. Cable slot doors to be lockable.

4.15 ENTRY STEPS

Each entry door is to have an aluminum grip strut type stop. The step at the rear door is to be full body width and serve as a bumper.

4.16 GENERATOR

Generator is to be 120/240 VAC, 60 Hz unit, fueled by gasoline. Output to be nominal 5500 watts.

Generator to be located on 24” wide platform on front of trailer.

4.17 HEATING

Wall mounted 5100 BTU/H, 120VAC, 1500 watt forced air heater. Or similar item.

4.18 LIGHTING

(2) 40 watt fluorescent light fixtures are required. Surface mount on ceiling for optimum light diffusion.

(1) Work light located over streetside work bench near drop table.

(1) 500 watt halogen flood with (2) exterior wall mounts and (1) interior storage bracket.

4.19 CABINETRY

Curbside wall to have (1) 4 drawer module, a full length counter, both types 36” high. All cabinets to be covered with 3/4” thick wood sheeting covered with black laminate. No seams allowed in black laminate surface.

All cabinetry to be nominal 16-14 gauge sheet metal.

4.20 ELECTRICAL OUTLETS

(3) GFI protected duplex receptacles are required on the interior. (1) Located on the Street side wall. (2) Receptacles are to be located on the curbside wall above the laminate work surface.

4.21 CONTROL PANEL

An interior wall mounted control panel is required. This control panel is to include a generator start/stop switch, hour meter and circuit breakers for individual circuit protection.

4.22 ACCESSORIES

Ship to Shore power cord, 25’ Long, 3 Pole, 4 Wire, 8GA, 3O AMP, 120/240V Twistlock – to be used with customer provided generator or when generator cannot be used.

CO Detector, 120VAC, plug in to dedicated GFI outlet plug-in with dedicated receptacle.

Battery Charger - Roof Mounted Solar Panel.
