About this file

The file is a specification document for a benchtop DNA sequencer issued by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Research Service. The solicitation (Number 1232SA25Q0872-B) seeks a sequencer with specific technical requirements, including the ability to produce >20kb reads from high molecular weight DNA, compatibility with genome assembly and diversity analysis pipelines, and capability to generate reads covering large complex grass genomes at 5-10x coverage. The system must be compact (not exceeding 500m x 500m) and include cloud-based support and training.

The procurement will be conducted as a Lowest Priced Technically Acceptable (LPTA) acquisition, with evaluation based on technical capability and meeting salient characteristics. The delivery location is the PWA Plant Germplasm facility at Washington State University in Pullman, WA. The solicitation is structured as a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items using FAR Part 13 procedures, with a preference for domestic end-product items. The procurement falls under PSC 6640 (Laboratory Equipment and Supplies) and NAICS code 334516 for Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing.
