About this file

This document is a detailed vehicle specification for the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT), outlining requirements for a 60,000 GVW Tandem Axle Vehicle with Flatbed Body and Crane. The specification describes a heavy-duty Class 8 truck designed for general-purpose crane operations, including handling paint totes and concrete barriers at altitudes between 4,000 and 8,000 feet. The vehicle must meet specific requirements for frame construction, engine performance, transmission, axles, braking systems, electrical components, and a hydraulic folding knuckle boom crane with a minimum capacity of 162,580 ft. lbs. and a 49' 4" minimum extension.

The specification includes comprehensive technical requirements for every vehicle component, with vendors required to provide detailed pricing and compliance documentation. Key technical specifications include a 500 horsepower minimum engine, Allison 4500RDS-P transmission, three maintenance-free batteries, LED lighting, and a 22-foot diamond plate steel platform. Additional requirements cover warranty (minimum 12 months), training (4 hours mechanical and 4 hours operational), and mandatory pre-build meeting within two weeks of bid award. The document also requests optional pricing for items such as rust-proof frame coating, auxiliary power distribution, and heavy-duty wire harness covers, with all warranty and service work to be performed within the State of Nevada.
