About this file

This document is the specification for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) 115kV Line Protection Replacement project. The project involves the replacement of the existing 115kV line protection with four new protection and control panels to be installed in the existing electrical room at the MBTA South Boston Power Complex. The MBTA is furnishing the relays for the Contractor to procure and install the new protection and control panels. The Contractor is responsible for the final design, testing, and commissioning of the new 115kV line protection system to coordinate and function with the Eversource system.

The project includes the procurement of the four new protection and control panels, wiring and grounding, raceway installation, and complete testing of the protection system in coordination with the MBTA and Eversource. Payment for the work will be made through a lump sum item that covers the Contractor's direct and indirect costs. The project has a defined schedule for completion of key milestones including submittal approvals, factory acceptance testing, installation, and commissioning.
