About this file
This specification document outlines requirements for a fractionating aspirator lab tester to be delivered under a federal contract with the Department of Agriculture Agricultural Research Service Field Research Implementation and Information Delivery Midwest Area. The tester must include electric motors for the fan and feed roll, a variable frequency drive with keypad and display to control motor speeds, a feed hopper, feed and air valves, an adjustable duct, four fraction receivers, a transparent front cover, and a dust bag or collector. The successful vendor will deliver the instrument within 120 days of receiving the purchase order.

BOR Unit – Dr. Cermak
FRACTIONATING LAB TESTER
Project
FRACTIONATING ASPIRATOR LAB TESTER
General Information
1.0 Scope of Work
Vendor is to deliver a test model fraconang aspirator with variable frequency drive for precise and adjustable blower and feed roller speed. The unit should contain the following features:
1) Fractionating aspirator tester
2) Power Cord
3) Warranty
2.0 Background
A fraconang aspirator is designed to separate parcles of the same size but have different weights.
This can be achieved by adjusng the air velocity passing through the curtain of falling grains, feed roller speed, and the feed gate spring tension. Parcles drop off the air stream depending on its terminal velocity and collected into different receivers/pans strategically located along the base of the aspirator.
With the VFD, the air velocity (fan speed) and feed rate (roller speed) sengs can be controlled precisely and recorded for repeat runs later. The benchtop fraconing aspirator unit can be ulized for density grading of smaller batches (~1 kg) of seeds than what would be needed (>50 kg) using a Forsberg TKV 25 gravity table.
Contractor Requirements
3.0 Technical Requirements / Tasks
1) Electric motors for fan and feed roll; 110V, 60 Hz.
