SPECIFICATION

BACKGROUND

USDA, ARS, Plant Genetic Resources Unit, in Geneva, NY will require a five-foot seed drill that can be mounted on a three-point hitch. This will be a tractor mounted implement for crop and turf direct seeding on a research farm growing a diverse collection of fruit, vegetable, and hemp crops. New orchard establishment and narrow alley-way maintenance require the use of a seeder for sowing turf and cover crops to prevent erosion. The seeder will also be required for establishing alley ways for care and maintenance in the production of various seed crops. The seeder will be used by the Clonal, Vegetable, and Hemp projects at the Plant Genetic Resources Unit at Geneva, NY.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

● Working width of 60-inches

● Transport width of 72-inches

● Weighs more than 800 pounds

● Height less than 5-feet

● At least two planting rollers

● Front roller at least 11-inch diameter

● Rear roller at least 9-inch diameter

● Use with a tractor with at least 35 horsepower.

● Recommended operating speed of 3-5 mph

● Two seed boxes

● Fist seed box with minimum 10-cups for cool season grass and cereal grains

● Second seed box with minimum 10-cups for legume and native grass seeds

WARRANTY

Minimum 90-day from date of delivery standard warranty is required. Minimum one-year gearbox warranty is required.

TRAINING

An operator’s manual written in English, outlining detailed instructions required to operate and service the equipment will be required.

Documentation. The Contractor shall provide an electronic copy (by email to tyler.gordon@usda.gov) of delivery confirmation and standard technical specifications and instructions.

DELIVERY

Delivery shall be included in the total price and the item(s) will be delivered to the address below between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern, Monday through Friday, excluding Federal holidays.
