About this file

This is a DD Form 2169, Special Packaging Instruction, issued by the Department of Defense on June 9, 1997 (Revision H). The form specifies detailed packaging requirements for a Drive Assembly, Fan (National Stock Number 2930-00-921-6475, Part Number 10942176, CAGE Code 19207) with a unit pack weight of 47.0 pounds and dimensions of 12.8 x 11.8 x 11.0 inches.

The packaging instructions mandate military preservation using MIL-STD-2073-1, Method 20, with specific requirements for cleaning (Process 1), drying, and application of preservatives (MIL-PRF-32033 and MIL-PRF-16173, Grade 4) to internal and external metallic surfaces. For packing, Level A requires cleated-plywood boxes (overseas type, PPP-B-601) or nailed wood boxes (PPP-B-621, Class 2), while Level B permits fiberboard boxes (ASTM D5118, weather resistant), triplewall corrugated fiberboard (ASTM D5168, Class 2), or pallet base containers (MIL-B-43666). The container shall be sized 12-1/4 x 11-1/4 x 9-3/4 inches and closed using ASTM D1974 tape (Method 2B3). Blocking and cushioning details are referenced on page 2, and the unit container must bear special markings per MIL-STD-129 indicating it is a reusable container and cushioning that should not be destroyed. Inspection shall comply with MIL-STD-2073 and MIL-STD-1186, with additional guidance on palletized loads referenced in MIL-HDBK-774.
