About this file

This is a Technical Specifications document for a Metal 3D Printer System acquisition by the DLA Product Test Center Division, Mechanical Lab in Columbus, Ohio. The Mechanical Product Test Center seeks to acquire one new metal 3D printer system to expand its capabilities for producing high-strength test fixtures, addressing limitations in labor-intensive traditional subtractive machining and the low strength of existing polymer 3D printers.

The contractor must deliver and install a new Metal 3D Printer System meeting specific technical criteria, including a build volume of at least 150 x 150 x 250 mm, a minimum 500W laser utilizing Laser Powder Bed Fusion technology, cartridge-based powder handling with ultrasonic inert sieving capability, 220-240V/50-60Hz power compatibility, internet-independent operation with permanent software licensing, 18 containers of 316L Stainless Steel powder, vacuum with HEPA filter, and a complete starter package. The equipment must comply with extensive safety standards including UL 2011 machinery listings, NFPA 660 combustible dust standards, and must undergo dust hazard and chemical reactivity evaluations. The contractor must provide three days of on-site training for four participants, conduct installation and initial system startup, furnish a 3-year preventative maintenance and calibration contract with consumables, and provide a 12-month warranty or standard OEM warranty, whichever is greater. Delivery must be completed within 120 days of contract award. Work shall be performed Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., excluding federal holidays. Invoices will be submitted to the Wide Area Workflow (WAWF) system with the DoDAAC SL0702.
