About this file
These technical specifications outline requirements for a Handheld X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) Analyzer for the DLA Product Test Center's TA Lab. The analyzer must be a portable, off-the-shelf instrument with specific technical capabilities, including a compact size (no larger than 12"x5"x12"), weight under 4.5 lbs, high-resolution silicon drift detector, and X-ray tube with adjustable voltage/current. The device must have advanced software capabilities for elemental analysis across multiple application domains such as general metals, precious metals, coatings, mining, electronic alloys, and plastics, with built-in standardization for various sample types.
Key procurement details include a one-day onsite setup and training for up to five DLA employees, NIST traceable certification, a one-year warranty covering parts and labor, and delivery within 120 days of award. The analyzer will be delivered to the DLA Product Test Center in Philadelphia, with notification required to specific DLA contacts. Invoicing must be completed through Wide Area Workflow (WAWF), and the contract is associated with DoDAAC SL0701 for the TA Lab. The objective is to expand the Product Test Center's testing capabilities for compositional analysis of metal alloys, coatings, and thickness measurements.

Technical Specifications Handheld X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) Analyzer
DLA Product Test Center, TA Lab
Objective:
To obtain a Handheld X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) Analyzer to expand the Product Test Center’s (PTC) testing capabilities for its customers. This portable instrument will enable the PTC to make determinations on composition of metal alloys and coatings, and for measuring thickness of coatings. The XRF Analyzer shall be provided as an off-the-shelf product without the need for additional post-installation research, development, and validation. The Analyzer shall have all hardware, accessories, and software for performing qualitive and quantitative elemental analysis across much of the periodic table.
The DLA Product Test Center-TA Lab has listed the requirements for the procurement of a Handheld X-Ray Fluorescence Analyzer. The following specifications are a list of minimum functions and features required by the DLA Product Test Center.
