Technical Specifications Sectioning Saw
DLA Product Test Center, TA Lab
Objective:
To obtain a Sectioning Saw to be used for preparation of test exhibits and proficiency samples for correlation testing. A Sectioning Saw will enable PTC technicians to obtain precise geometric sections of alloy samples for analysis to determine material identification and quality. Currently, the Product Test Center (PTC) does not possess an apparatus that can perform this function.
Procurement of a Sectioning Saw will expand the Product Test Center’s (PTC) capabilities while increasing productivity and streamlining the process. The apparatus will enable lab technicians to perform independent sample preparation with extreme accuracy, repeatability, and efficiency. The old practice of manual sample preparation using techniques with metal blades, mills, grinders, etc. will be greatly diminished, saving untold man hours, while instituting an engineering control for safety. A Sectioning Saw will allow the DLA Product Test Center in continuing its mission in providing high quality, on-time reporting to its customers.
The DLA Product Test Center-TA Lab has listed the requirements for the procurement of a Sectioning Saw. The following specifications are a list of minimum functions and features required by the DLA Product Test Center.
