7.0 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FROM THE SHIP:

7.1 NGW maintains communications while the ship is steady on course.

7.2 NGW loses communication when the ship executes a course change and can take up to 45 minutes to regain communication.

7.3 The Antenna Control Unit (ACU) has failed to maintain tracking mode after yesterday's weather conditions that resulted in our lost connectivity. We have exhausted our distance support with INMARSAT and they have escalated our issue to their resident engineers, but the INMARSAT help desk believes our issues reside with our faulty gyro input as listed in the INMARSAT Tech report from late last month when the INMARSAT tech was on board in SAS. The INMARSAT tech placed our NGW system in a SATREF during his onsite tech assist and the ship has been able to restore connectivity once the ship maintained a steady course for 30 minutes. Today at lunch we powered down for approximately three hours until the Dynamic Positioning System was initiated. The NGW system has been on line for the last 2 hours, but the ACU only tracks for about 10 seconds before going back into search mode.
