About this file

The document is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System's Medical Air Compressor Replacement project at the University Drive Medical Center. The urgent project involves replacing two medical air compressor systems located in different areas (2A130 and 7W139), where existing systems have reached end-of-life and replacement parts are obsolete. The scope includes complete demolition of existing compressors, storage tanks, dryers, and associated electrical and piping infrastructure, followed by installation of new NFPA 99 compliant AMICO Tri-Plex medical air systems.

Specific equipment requirements include a 7.5 scroll medical air system for 2A130 and a 20HP scroll medical air system for 7W139, both featuring premium HMI controllers with BACnet, CO and dewpoint monitors, dual desiccant dryers, and filtration packages. Installation must be performed by Certified ASSE 6010 medical gas installers, potentially during off-hours and weekends to minimize disruption. The project requires a 2-inch crossover pipe to interconnect both medical air systems, ensuring continuous medical air supply during the replacement process. All electrical connections, wiring, alarms, and system certifications are part of the contractor's responsibilities.

Medical Air Compressor Replacement 2A130/7W139

This is an urgent and compelling need for the Medical Center to replace two (2) medical air compressor systems at two (2) different locations within the University Drive Medical Center. These medical air systems have reached their life’s expectancy and repair parts are obsolete or very hard to find for both these medical air systems.

There will be a need to install a 2-inch crossover pipe to interconnect both medical air systems from 2A130 and 7W139 to prevent any disruption of medical air while this work is being conducted to any medical Air System.

2A130 Medical Air Compressor System
