Location: The work of this contract takes place at Paradise, on the south side of Mount Rainier
National Park, Washington at an elevation of 5,400 feet. Work location is accessed following SR
706 into the park at Nisqually Entrance and following the Nisqually to Paradise Road eighteen miles to the Paradise developed area. The boilers are in an employee residence, known as the Ski
Dorm. The boilers are in a mechanical room located in the basement. Access to the room is down a flight of stairs, (18 stairs). The work will occur in October when the residences have been vacated. The boilers supply hydronic heat throughout the quarters, as well as, supplying heat to the coils of a domestic hot water tank.
It is strongly recommended that contractors interested attend a site visit August 10th at 11:00

The work consists of the following: removal and replacement of two (2) each 212,000 BTU #2 fuel oil-fired Weil McLain (brand name or equal) boilers and associated safety controls, circulation pumps, and mixing valves. Tasks include:
• Remove existing boilers from fuel supply, exhaust, and circulation lines.
• Disconnect boilers from electric supply, all safety, and modulating controls.
• Drain system, remove, and dispose of all boiler components outside the park
• Supply and install the new boilers of equal BTU in the same location as the removed unit
• Connect the new boilers to existing fuel supply, exhaust, and piping
• Connect the new boiler to existing electric control module
• Connect the new boilers to existing fuel oil lines
• Connect all piping to existing piping and insulate once tested
• Connect all safety and modulating controls and ensure function
• Install isolation valves to allow maintenance of boilers
• Replace balancing valves, (3, ¾ inch valves, 1- 2 inch valve)
• Replace 2 system circulation pumps (pumps supplied by park, Taco Pump, Series
1900, Model 1915 EAE)
• Replace 2 boiler mixing circulation pumps (pumps supplied by park, Taco Pump, Model number 007-F5)
• Fill system with water for testing, balancing, and commissioning.
The boilers shall be of equal heat output to the existing unit, 212,000 BTU. The boilers shall be tested and rated according to the Hydronics Institute’s Testing and Rating Standard for Heating
Boilers with I=B=R emblem on a name plate.
All piping shall be insulated after system has been checked for leaks.
All work shall follow the guidelines established in the manufacturer’s installation manuals. All work must comply with NFPA. Boilers shall comply with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel
Code, and all State and Federal Codes.

#2 Fuel Oil fired
Becket Burner

Full Modulating Sequencing Control Lead/Lag Time
The contractor will be allowed to work on site Monday through Friday. Hours of work will be
7:00 AM until 4:00 PM. There will be no work on Federal Holidays.
