ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
SMALL PURCHASE PROCUREMENT
SCOPE OF WORK & PROJECT REQUIREMENTS
Date: November 27, 2023 File# 4-24-032
LOCATION: Jake Wolf Memorial Fish Hatchery
PROJECT TITLE: Demo and remove 6 Industrial Sand filters.
PROJECT NARRATIVE:
There are currently 6, 10-foot-tall industrial grade sand filters at the Jake Wolf Memorial Fish Hatchery that will need to be removed and disposed of. The Sand filters are made of thick steel and are full of gravel, of various sizes and sand. The sand filters are in a precarious spot, situated after our bank of water pumps. There is a 5-ton winch and I beam that will allow for the lift out of material and filter housing. The aggregate will need to be removed and then the filter housing can be removed via the 5 ton lift and placed in front of 12 foot tall garage door.
SCOPE OF WORK:
Per Sand Filter
Remove filter medium from sand filter, through either a vacuum truck, hand removal or other method approved by site supervisor. Media can be disposed of on site at designated locations roughly 3000 feet away. Vendor will be responsible for transport of media to site.
After media is removed, ductile iron piping, insulation and various wires and aluminum piping will need to be removed and disposed of by vendor. Placing haul away dumpsters on site that are removed post job completion is acceptable.
After all other materials are removed, sand filter will be lifted over bay of pumps with the 5-ton winch on site (materials to hoist filters will need to be provided by the vendors) to the 12 foot tall garage door at the far side of the room.
From there the vendor can disassemble with their tools or transport the filters whole either off site or to waiting scrap dumpster.
