The road to access the tailwater parking lot is located on the west side of the KY Hwy 252 (Barren River

Dam Rd.) and is approximately 18 ft. wide.

a. The government representative will notify the prime contractor if work for the upcoming day is canceled or postponed.

b. Tasks – The following series of tasks are considered the typical duties that the rental crane will be used to perform. These tasks are representative of, but not all inclusive of the tasks performed under this contract. See exhibits in the appendix for examples of items to be hoisted.

Operator shall participate in lift planning and critical lift procedures. This will be a collaborative effort between USACE and the contractor’s operator. It is expected that most of the lifting work would be critical lifts, therefore critical lift plans and documentation would need to be provided per EM385-1-1, Chapter 16- 7.d. Lift plans shall be submitted to USACE for review no later than one week before the expected delivery of the crane.

Lifting cofferdam materials consisting of bulk bags filled with crushed limestone, sand, or other fill material and setting into the tailwater channel and at stilling basin invert.

Lifting water pumps and material from delivery trailers to designated areas.

Hoist a 1.5-yard concrete bucket to remove fish from stilling basin area.

Lift any miscellaneous equipment and materials as required to support dewatering, inspection, and mild repair operations.

Once work has been completed, the cofferdam material will be lifted out of the stilling basin and channel;

pumps, equipment, and materials will be stage for pickup or loaded on trailers.

Line Item 002: Supply all water pumping equipment, hoses, and accessories for one week.

The contractor shall provide all water pumping equipment, including all pumps, piping/hoses, appurtenances, and mechanical systems necessary to de-water the stilling basin structure. The pumps will be operated by USACE during the de-watering. The equipment shall be capable of pumping and maintaining a minimum of 15 CFS of water flow. Once the stilling basin is dewatered, the pumps would be used to control and evacuate any water leakage entering the stilling basin or the dewatered portion of the tailwater between the stilling basin sill and eastside of the cofferdam.

The basis of design will require the following:

Number of Pumps: (2) pumps minimum Total Combined Pumping Capacity: 6,732 GPM minimum Total Dynamic Head: 50 ft. to 60 ft. (max)

It is assumed two electrical submersible water pumps would work best due to limited flat areas near the stilling basin and multiple pumps would exceed the minimum required CFS. The pumps would be powered by a diesel generator that shall be included and provided with the rental. We anticipate the generator would be positioned on or near the asphalt parking lot south of the stilling basin. Enough power cable shall be provided to power the pumps.

Alternate pumps or combination of pumps capable of supplying the specified CFS can be submitted to the TPOC for approval before the rental period commences.

The rental shall include all hoses, strainers, discharges, accessories, diesel powered electric generator, power cables, and incidentals required to de-water the stilling basin per the specifications provided herein.

All labor, equipment, materials, fuel, permits, and incidentals required to transport the equipment (delivery and pickup) are the responsibility of the contractor and shall be included.

The rental period shall not begin before the required delivery date or before the equipment has been accepted for use. The TPOC will coordinate with the awarded contractor no later than 2-weeks prior to the anticipated delivery date. All equipment shall be onsite and ready for use at the scheduled start date and time.

Rental Period is anticipated to be from Monday June 23 through Sunday June 29. It is anticipated the equipment will be picked up from the site no later than Monday June 30.

d. Pump shall be able to efficiently move water from stilling basin floor (EL 466.2) up over the stilling basin wing wall (elevation varies: EL 509.99 to EL 497.00) and out to the retreat channel beyond the cofferdam. Hand railing will be removed by USACE if required. Pumps will be placed in alternate locations as needed.

e. Provide hoses of correct size and type to optimize pump performance and efficiency per the pump manufacturer’s specification and to meet the requirements of the job.

f. Each pump shall be supplied with enough length of hose required to reach from the stilling basin floor, up over the stilling basin wing wall to the pump and from the pump to the discharge point located downstream (west) of the cofferdam into the retreat channel. See exhibits in the appendix for anticipated site layout with approximate locations where pumps would be positioned.

g. The farthest distance from pump intake location to pump discharge is approximately 300 lineal feet. It is the responsibility of the contractor to verify and determine all measurements to achieve the intent of this scope of work.

h. Provide USACE with pump operating manual and details for assembly of components.
