About this file

This Statement of Work details the Federal Aviation Administration's procurement of Miniature Uninterruptible Power Supplies (mUPS) for the National Airspace System (NAS). The FAA's AJM-5 Telecommunications Integrated Services (TIS) and Federal Aviation Administration Logistics Center (FAALC) seek to deploy mUPS systems at critical NAS facilities to provide emergency power during outages and electrical disturbances.

The contractor must provide five categories of UPS units meeting specific technical requirements: a single-phase, capacitor-based ~800VA offline unit with NEMA 5-15 input plug and external power strip with minimum 4x5-15 outlets, capable of withstanding dusty conditions and temperatures exceeding 110 degrees; a single-phase 1kVA online dual-conversion unit; a single-phase 3kVA online unit; a 3-phase 208V 3kVA online unit; and a single-phase 1kVA online unit providing greater than 4 hours of runtime through additional battery modules. All units must achieve a minimum 15-second runtime at 192 watts and include mounting hardware. Equipment must be FAA-approved or equivalent to approved units listed in an attached bid sheet; the referenced example is Marathon Power's UP-SDRU-0500-H1 (850VA/500W DIN-Rail Mount UPS), with a quantity of 600 units noted. Any substitutions require FAA Program Office approval. Delivery is to Operating Stock at 6500 S MacArthur Blvd, Oklahoma City, OK 73169 or addresses specified on delivery orders, with packaging per AJW-LWI-CF0077 (Provision 61). Contractors must submit equipment specification sheets, delivery lead times for complete orders, and standard manufacturer warranty information.

STATEMENT OF WORK

Miniature Uninterruptible Power Supply (mUPS) Procurement

PURPOSE:

In the National Airspace System (NAS), Miniature Uninterruptible Power Supplies (mUPS) play a crucial role in delivering emergency power to electronics and equipment during power outages or other electrical disturbances. These Mini-UPS units are specifically designed to provide short-term backup for sensitive loads, whether to ride through voltage sags and brief power interruptions or to seamlessly bridge the startup of a generator. To ensure safe and reliable operations within the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), AJM-5 Telecommunications Integrated Services (TIS) along with Federal Aviation Administration Logistics Center (FAALC) has initiated a comprehensive optimization project to deploy Mini-UPS systems at critical National Airspace System (NAS) facilities, ensuring uninterrupted power to vital equipment.

SCOPE OF WORK:

• Provide UPS’s that meet the following requirements:

o Single-Phase, Capacitor-based, ~800VA, Offline, must include NEMA 5-15 plug (input) and external power strip on output with at least 4x5-15 and no switch plus mounting hardware.

o Must have the ability to withstand dusty conditions and temperatures over 110 degrees.

o Single-Phase, Capacitor-based, 1kVA, Online, Dual conversion, must include mounting hardware.

o Single-Phase, Capacitor-based, 3kVA, Online, must include mounting hardware.

o 3-Phase 208V, Capacitor-based, 3kVA, Online, must include mounting hardware.

o Single-phase, 1kVA, Online, capable of providing power for greater than 4 hours. May achieve this by installing additional battery modules o Units must have a minimum runtime of fifteen (15) seconds at 192 Watts.

• FAA approved equipment or equivalent:

Table 1 below lists a sample of mUPS designated by FAA as already approved. Any equivalent submittal items must fit the salient features and characteristics of the approved items below, as well as meet the UPS requirements listed above. To see full list of approved product part numbers see attached mUPS bid sheet.

1. Any substitution must be approved by the FAA Program Office.
