About this file

This Statement of Work details guy tensioning requirements for Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and U.S. Forest Service (USFS) guy towers, specifically at the Huger Repeater site in Francis Marion and Sumter National Forest (33°7'9.64"N, 79°46'49.02"W). The work encompasses implementing guy system tensioning, performing minor guy system repairs, and installing new grounding on guys and guy anchors of identified USFS tower assets.

The contractor must provide all tools, equipment, materials and expertise to complete specific tasks including: tensioning guyed wires to TIA-222 Rev. H specifications, performing corrosion abatement, installing safety wires at anchor points, replacing a broken guy wire marker ball, replacing a turnbuckle on leg A, clearing vegetation around guy anchors, and installing an above-grade ground system meeting NFPA 780 and TIA-222 standards. The project requires completion within 30 days of notice to proceed, with a preliminary schedule due 10 days after award and final schedule two weeks before work starts. Deliverables include a remediation plan, test data for tensioning, photographic documentation of below-grade work, and a complete documentation package within 30 days of site completion.

1. Introduction and Overview

This Statement of Work will be issued in support of the United States Forest Service (USFS) mission to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of the nation’s forests and grasslands to meet the needs of present and future generations. The initiative will focus on addressing systemic maintenance and critical infrastructure issues afflicting the USFS tower inventory and their ability to support mission critical activities. The contracting entity will serve independently to provide technical, and logistics services to support the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in the efforts detailed within this scope of work.

2. Scope of Work

The scope of work will encompass the implementation of guy system tensioning, minor guy system repair required for tensioning and new grounding installed on the guys and guy anchors of all identified USFS tower assets.
