STATEMENT OF WORK

1. Background: Ballistic helmets and hearing protection to protect gun crew members during live fire evolutions at MFPU Kings Bay.

2. Requirements: Ballistic helmets and hearing protection. Items authorized are specifically named in the STANDARDIZED SHIPBOARD PPE

REQUIREMENTS FOR USCG CREW SERVED WEAPONS CREWS list via

CG-721. Said list is also referenced in CIM M8000.1 (Series) as the approved

PPE list.

3. Deliverables:

a. Ballistic Helmet

NIJ 0106.01 with NIJ 0108.01 Level 3A ballistic protection

PS-1063 and MIL-STD-662F Fragmentation protection

Blunt impact protection: less than 150 G’s at 1-ft/s

Compression: top-bottom: 020’’ max at 400 lbs, side: .125” max at 300 lbs

Environmental resistance: -60 F. to 160 F.

CIM M8000.1 (series) and CG-721 Shipboard gun crew PPE updated list both reference the Gentex OPS CORE FAST XP Legacy High cut helmet by name. This helmet is no longer produced by Gentex. The updated version is listed as the FAST XP High cut helmet. This is the updated version of the helmet specifically listed by name from both the Ordnance manual (M8000.1) and Headquarters (CG-721).

b. Electronic hearing protection (Muffs)

Noise protection rating: NRR 22 dB

Run time: up to 120 hrs

CIM M8000.1 (series) and CG-721 Shipboard gun crew PPE updated list both reference that rail mounted hearing protection is authorized for helmets equipped with rails (Gentex helmet in line-item a) However it does not specifically list the Gentex AMP headset by name. This headset would meet the requirements by both the Ordnance manual (M8000.1) and

Headquarters (CG-721) and allow for an option that would not potentially risk non-required purchases if other products are found to be incompatible with the Gentex helmets.
