9/25/2026 Statement of Work (SOW)

PROJECT TITLE: EIU Viewpoint (Country Analysis Advanced Global) & Operational Risk

1. BACKGROUND:

The mission of the Export-Import Bank of the US (EXIM) Research & Information Services unit (RIS) is to support the work of EXIM officials and employees who serve exporters and other clientele by providing high-quality and useable information delivered in a timely fashion.

RIS and EXIM Bank staff have a continuing requirement for the Economist Intelligence Unit’s Viewpoint (Country Analysis Advanced Global) and Operational Risk databases. EIU experts provide concise, original analysis on economic, financial, political, and legal aspects of macroeconomic conditions, trends, risks, and prospects. EXIM Bank has subscribed to these EIU products for decades. Their expertise is vital for the risk research carried out by EXIM’s economists, librarians, loan officers, and policy analysts.

2. SCOPE:

The Viewpoint database contains briefing reports, approximately 250 per day, covering 203 countries. The analysis is original and not aggregated from other sources. The scope covers economic, financial, political, and legal aspects of macroeconomic conditions, trends, risks, and prospects covering countries, major companies and industries, legislative issues, trade, banking, and political risk.

The Country Data component of Viewpoint allows users to build macroeconomic reports for over 200 countries and regions. An alternative to creating your own report is to download an EIU One-Click Report, which provides a quick and concise, yet comprehensive snapshot of a country, industry, or topic. Updated monthly, they have been a go-to for EXIM staff for years and are especially useful when EXIM executives embark on official travel. Other flagship products include Industry Forecast reports, a monthly Commodity Forecast, and a Democracy Index report.

The Operational Risk feature combines economic and financial risk assessment with coverage of security, the regulatory and tax environments and the impact of infrastructural inadequacies on investment and local operations. Operational Risk is designed to help assess and mitigate the risks of doing business in 180 markets and features a Risk Tracker providing comprehensive quarterly updates across 10 dimensions of risk, daily analysis of the current situations in 120 countries, and risk scores for an additional 60 markets. In addition to Risk Tracker, EIU’s Global Future Scenario Watchlist provides assessment of the top ten global risks, and the Latest Developments area provides analysis of ongoing international situations and geopolitical flashpoints.

In addition to offering online databases, EIU will provide customized presentations on a global issue of interest in-person or online upon request. We have hosted EIU experts at EXIM several times. Given the cost of the service, this is a priceless benefit for EXIM staff.

The Economist Intelligence Unit provides concise, original analysis on economic, financial, political, and legal aspects of macroeconomic conditions, trends, risks, and prospects. There is no other source that can provide this broad scope of country coverage, emphasis on emerging markets, global business, and international financial markets. It is often the only source for both data and comment on obscure countries or situations. This unique service is essential because of its authoritative and candid analysis, realistic forecasts and projections, and reliable statistics.
