| Text1: Electric Boiler - Sussman |
| Text2: Provide a Sussman Model SSB180100F3L electric boiler or equivalent that can replace the one that was in use for ~20 years. The new unit has meet these requirements - |
1) It MUST be compatible with existing utility feeds (electricity, water, steam line, vent
2) It MUST be of same size or smaller (the area is congested)
3) It MUST supply at a minimum the amount of steam at the right temperature/pressure which the incumbent boiler provided (in order to meet the mission need).
4) All metal that makes contact with water MUST be made from stainless steel or other metal which will not corrode.
| Text13: Boilers have been in use for 100's of years to provide steam for various processes. In this lab, an independent boiler is required to meet research needs as a way to quickly heat samples at high shear. This allows the fast production of research materials. The lab had a Sussman lab boiler for nearly 20 years. This boiler was chosen as it met the research needs regarding steam attributes and fit in the allocated space. Small boilers are not as easily found. Many of these do not have stainless steel, are too large, do not provide sufficient steam or will not use the incumbent utility connections. After an exhaustive internet search, only Sussman, maker of incumbent boiler, will meet the requirements. |

If needed, the government will supply a standard loading dock to accept delivery of the unit. The government will supply a location with suitable requirements (electricity, water) as needed to operate the instrument. Equipment will be delivered to 1815 North University Street, Peoria, Illinois. Given CoVid restrictions, additional requirements will be in place for entrance to the lab. These will be communicated with the equipment supplier. Attempts will be made to ensure that safety is met for all parties and the equipment delivered in a timely manner. |
