About this file
This is a Scope of Work document for the Iowa Department of Public Defense (DPD) regarding mechanical system repairs at the Storm Lake Readiness Center. The project involves comprehensive HVAC and water heating system upgrades at two locations: the Storm Lake RC and an FMS Maintenance Shop. At the Storm Lake RC, the scope includes demolition and replacement of six York RTUs with new Lennox Enlight units equipped with 208/3 phase power, Bacnet compatibility, two-stage heating and cooling, and smart thermostats with seven-day scheduling. Additionally, six existing radiant tube heaters will be replaced with new Shwank units featuring programmable controls, and one Ruud water heater with expansion tank will be installed. All work includes necessary electrical connections, gas line modifications, fire alarm reconnections, and roofing membrane repairs. The FMS Maintenance Shop work is priced as alternates and includes removal of one York RTU, Co-Ray-Vac system, and wash bay radiant system, with installation of one new Lennox RTU and two Shwank radiant tube heaters in the maintenance shop plus one moisture-resistant Shwank heater in the wash bay. A site visit is scheduled for Thursday, August 27 at 10:00 AM at 1601 Park Street, Storm Lake, Iowa 50588, with bids due and opened on Thursday, September 10 at 1:00 PM via the IMPACS portal.
The scope specifies detailed equipment specifications and installation requirements, including materials, labor for crane and scissor lift operations, and all associated electrical and plumbing work. Bidders must submit proposals through IMPACS and are required to bring photo identification to the mandatory site visit. The issuing officer is Philip Payton of Iowa DPD, reachable at 515-975-6211 or philip.payton@dpd.iowa.gov. The document does not specify pricing terms, contract duration, funding sources, or whether incumbent contractor preferences or set-asides apply.
