Statement of Work (SOW) Project: Heavy duty dual belt Actuator with an HMI controller to simulate the movement of ground spray boom

GENERAL INFORMATION

1.0 Scope of Work: Purpose is to procure a dual-track actuator system with an HMI controller. This system will be installed in a lab with a miniature ground spray boom with nozzles to simulate field sprayers. The nozzles will spray crop protection products to artificial targets or crops while the system simulates forward movement of the spray boom. With this system, the efficacy of crop protection products can be evaluated indoor during off season under realistic spray application conditions. In addition, spray coverage and deposition can be measured under the conditions. This also enables to reduce treatments for field test which will reduce the field tests. In additions, this actuator will also be used for other prototype machinery tests that require simulate forward movement for indoor tests as well.

2.0 Background: ATRU will conduct research to examine the efficacy of crop protection products in terms of biological efficacy and spray coverage and deposition to reduce unintended release to the environment by optimizing crop protection products. This apparatus will provide critical function for forward traveling of spray boom at various travel speeds.

CONTRACTOR REQUIREMENTS

3.0 Technical Requirements/Tasks: Provide and deliver heavy duty dual belt actuators with an HMI controller with following characteristics/capabilities to simulate the movement of ground spray boom:

• This actuator system shall be a dual rail system with two actuators gantry with common shaft drive package, including servo gearing package.

• Overall length of the track is 9000 mm with a minimum horizontal travel length of 8000 mm.

• The distance between two rails (center to center) is 1219 mm (4 ft).

• The max speed of the actuator is 10160 mm/second with the maximum acceleration of 9 m/s2.

• The actuator must have the movement repeatability of +/-0.025 mm, and the position accuracy +/-0.4 mm/meter.

• The maximum load of the actuator is 362.8 kg (800 lb) with the maximum moment load per rail is

720Nm (6400 lbf in)

• The actuator system shall have a minimum combined belt tensile strength of 24,000 lbf.

• The actuator must have motion controller package with following specifications:

o Must provide extra cable sets of 5 meter o Must have at least 12.3-inch touchscreen HMI with the screen resolution of 1920 (H) X 720 (V), at least 2 GB flash, ARM Cortex A9 quad core 800 Mhz, 2x Ethernet 10/100, 1x Ethernet 10/100/100, 2x USB, 1x RS-232/422/485, 1x SD, 2x plug-in, and CE certified o Must equipped with a software to program the actuator for its travel speed (0 – 6.5 meter/second), acceleration (0 to 9 meter/second2), moving distance (0 to 8.45 m) and others.

o All equipment to be designed, engineered, mounted and wired in a NEMA12 Enclosure with a 230 VAC, 3 phase power input o Servo drive package shall employ a “Tuneless” mode to allow for varying load sizes to be added and removed from the actuator without a need to manually change the servo gains.
