About this file
This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the procurement of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) equipment for Salt Lake City VA Medical Center. The VA seeks to acquire a TMS machine with repetitive (rTMS) and Intermittent Theta Burst Stimulation (iTBS) capability, along with a stim guide coil positioning system for accurate placement. The equipment will provide non-invasive brain stimulation treatment for veterans with major depressive disorder and other mental health conditions, offering a non-pharmacological alternative to medication. The stimulator unit must feature biphasic waveform pulses with adjustable intensity and frequency, an air-cooled figure-of-eight coil capable of back-to-back treatments, a touchscreen interface with pre-loaded and customizable clinical protocols, and a 3D neuronavigation stim guide system for precise targeting. Critical specifications include software safeguards, continuous monitoring of coil temperature and system performance, and an emergency stop button.
The contract scope includes procurement, installation at Building 7 warehouse and Building 3 of the VA Medical Center (500 Foothill Drive, Salt Lake City, UT 84148), comprehensive training for VA healthcare providers, and ongoing maintenance and technical support. All equipment must meet FDA regulations and applicable medical device standards with demonstrated quality assurance processes. The vendor is responsible for warranty coverage addressing defects and performance issues, liability provisions for equipment malfunction, and compliance with VA data protection guidelines, though no security accreditation is required as the project does not involve storage, transmission, or exchange of VA sensitive information. This Sources Sought Notice was issued for market research purposes only and is not a solicitation or binding commitment; responses were requested by October 1, 2026, to lynn.lim@va.gov, with companies required to provide company information, points of contact, delivery timelines, country of origin, manufacturer details, and applicable small business certifications under NAICS code 334510 (Electrotherapeutic Apparatus Manufacturing).
