About this file
This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for roof repair and replacement work at the BLM Boise District Equipment Shed located at 3948 Development Avenue, Boise, Idaho 83705.
The project involves selective demolition and replacement of a damaged roof system on an existing 2,700 square-foot wood pole barn measuring 27 feet by 100 feet with an overall height of 17 feet. Following wind damage that removed approximately 60 feet of roof structure, the contractor must fabricate and install 16 new wood trusses to replace four damaged trusses using 2x6 and 2x4 materials. New trusses must match the existing profile, geometry, and bay configuration (five bays of 20 feet each) and be designed per Specification 061753 Shop Fabricated Wood Trusses. The contractor shall also install new hurricane truss ties on both new and existing trusses, remove all existing metal roof material from the entire structure, and install new ribbed metal roofing with ridge cap and trim in a standard color similar to the original. The project includes securing existing east wall siding to wood purlins and new trusses with blocking as required. Metal roofing in good condition may be salvaged and remain on-site; all wood and other building materials must be disposed of offsite. The project is classified as a Repair under 2024 IEBC Chapter 4, with design considerations for wind uplift following 2024 IEBC Appendix C. BLM is the Authority Having Jurisdiction; local building permits are not required. The contractor must submit engineered shop drawings and calculations, product submittals for truss straps, fasteners, and roofing materials, a work plan, waste management plan, and construction schedule. A minimum one-year warranty covering all materials, parts, and workmanship is required. Applicable specifications include 011000 Summary, 017419 Construction Waste Management, 024119 Selective Demolition, 061753 Shop Fabricated Wood Trusses, and 076100 Sheet Metal Roofing.

Statement of Work
Boise District Equipment Shed Roof Repair
Boise District BLM, Boise Idaho
Request to replace damaged roof trusses and metal roofing on existing pole barn at the Bureau of Land Management
(BLM) Boise District Wareyard.
Background: BLM Boise District has an existing 2,700 square feet wood construction pole barn with dimensions 27 feet x 100 feet and an overall height of 17 feet. The pole barn is sheeted on three sides with an open front. The roof is constructed of wood trusses and ribbed metal roof material. No construction drawings or as-builts are available for the existing structure. Contractor shall conduct thorough site visit and be familiar with all conditions affecting the work prior to bidding.
Building Information:
Eave Height: 12 feet, 6 inches
Roof Peak Height: 17 feet
Truss Overall Length: 29 feet
Truss is 2x6 and 2x4 material
Shed Depth: 27 feet
Width of Bays: 20 feet
Number of Bays: 5
During a recent wind event, a portion of the roof structure was removed from the building. The trusses and roof material were damaged during the event. The other part of the roof system stayed in place and had no apparent structural damage. Due to this storm damage, the pole barn needs new shop-built trusses to match the existing truss profile, geometry, and bay configuration. Truss member sizing, connections, hurricane tie hardware, and bracing shall be designed per Specification 061753 Shop Fabricated Wood Trusses. Work also includes the removal of existing metal roof material, securement of existing end wall siding, and new roof material installed for the entire structure, including over areas where existing trusses remain in place. Undamaged existing structure is not required to be altered beyond what is specified herein or as required to properly repair the building.
Applicable Codes and Authority Having Jurisdiction: This project is located on federal property; BLM is the
Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ). Local building permits will not be required. This project is classified as a
Repair under 2024 IEBC Chapter 4. Portions of the design considering wind uplift shall follow the 2024 IEBC
Appendix C: Guidelines for Wind Retrofit of Existing Buildings. Truss designer may submit alternate criteria if supported by the relevant ICC and/or ASCE 7 codes, subject to approval for use by the BLM. See Specification
Section 061753 and 076100.
